Aunt Frannie's Kitchen
           "Home Cookin' Essentials"
Jim Hopkins
AKA
"Aunt Frannie"
Our History:

Back in 1995, our founder was cooking for his family just has he always did, looking
through a magazine called Taste of Home.  There was a feature article called "Men
Who Run the Range", about men who do the home cooking.

He commented to his wife that it didn't seem that these guys actually cooked all the
time like he did, and wondered how many men actually did that chore every day.  To
him it was never a chore like most think, but rather a hobby that he experienced daily.

His wife submitted a letter to the editor about her man who runs the range all the
time.  Long story short, he was featured in a couple of issues later.  During the
interview for the article, he mentioned his favorite meal was making meatloaf, but
never the same way.  You see, one of the people who taught him how to cook was
his Aunt, and her specialty was meatloaf with what ever was in the house.

The previous year, he and his Aunt had written a cookbook on meatloaf recipes, and
had one printed copy off an old word processor.  Remember this is 1993. The
magazine editor thought it would be a neat idea to tell readers about this cookbook,
and have an address for people to order the book.

Thinking there might be some buyers, at least family, he and his wife went to a
small publisher, and had 100 books printed.  One month after the magazine article
was printed, all 100 copies of
Aunt Frannie's Never the Same Meatloaf where gone!
Back to the printer....

A year after Aunt Frannie's Kitchen was formed, he got the bright idea of creating 4
more cookbooks using favorite recipes from all the people who bought the meatloaf
cookbook.  The contest was created, and
Apples & Other Fruits, Aunt Frannie's
Favorite Casseroles, Downhome Delicious Desserts, and Vegetable Garden Galore
went to print a year later.

Today, this small mail order company, remains small.  Just looking to pass on
these many family favorites to other country cooks across America.  You'll notice
they still only accept checks, and have chosen not to offer credit cards online to keep
the costs minimal.
